My very first illustrated cooking book

¡Hola amigos!

Today, I want to share with you a very special project, a dream project that makes me really happy, my very first illustrated cookbook.

Feel Good Smoothies! Yay!

You already know that what I have with food is true love. Everything started when I found my abuela's handwritten recipe postcards. I decided to illustrate these 122 recipes and as it turned out I also learnt how to cook in the process. This was my very special personal project. Since that day, one of my passions is to learn new cuisines and illustrate cookbooks.

Por cierto, My Abuela's Illustrated Cookbook is a "work in progress", amigos from the publishing industry stay tuned because I will need you soon.

Coming back to Feel Good Smoothies, the process of illustrating the book was very experimental and fun. The Chronicle Books team sent me 40 smoothie recipes and we agreed to start illustrating only 5 in order to define the style and layout of the book. The first thing I did was to go to the market, get all the ingredients and try out the recipes at home. That way I tried to connect with what the author was trying to achieve… I wanted to analyze colors, textures and ingredients. It was a delicious process!

I am very happy with the result and how we managed to keep the fun and dynamic touch on each page without being repetitive with the illustrations.

The recipes were created by the lovely Sandra Wu and the art direction was worked by Lizzie Vaughan from the Chronicle Books’s team.

You can find the book here: Feel Good Smoothies

Thanks for reading and have a joyful day amigo!
